Summary:
Door (side touching the block boundary) cannot place any block that requires support (eg torches, hanging signs, button, bell...). Since this is a full sides, it is expected to place any blocks on this sides (it will correspond to Java).
Steps to reproduce:
Place the Door.
Place blocks that require support on the vertical side.
Observed results:
You cannot place any block that requires support on a Door.
Expected results:
The block will be placed.

The name βtrapdoorβ implies that it is meant to deceive, so building things with it that break on use is fitting. With regular doors, no. Iβve always found it bizarre that in Java you can place buttons (or was it levers?) on piston bodies that break off on use. It feels buggy and like an oversight in design.

As soon as you or a villager opens the door the block supported by it would break, so it seems pointless to code in the support for the face of each rotation of a door.
