Offline multiplayer not working on 1.20.10 onwards

Before version 1.20.10 I could play with my friends in a LAN game connected to the same signal without internet and we could play fine but in version 1.20.10+ this function doesn't work and I can't play with my friends anymore since when connecting to the same network without internet we can't connect fix this since since I played Minecraft from 1.16 it worked and now it doesn't
New:Still not working on 1.20.15 please fix this bug

Steps to Reproduce (from user comment)

  • Connect devices to same network (Wifi with Internet)

  • LAN game discovery works correctly (count in "Friends" tab on device B changes to 1 when world is loaded on device A)

  • Disconnect internet cable from router (Wifi environment stays the same, but no internet is available)

  • LAN game discovery does not work (Count in "Friends" tab remains at 0)

  • Reconnect internet cable to router, discovery works correctly again

Tested with & without reconnecting to WiFi and restarting MC each time.

If internet is disconnected during game, game remains stable, so this looks to be a problem in the discovery / LAN publishing process.

Resolving temporarily as Awaiting Response. By "without internet" do you mean without mobile data? Are you still connected to the internet, e.g. through Wi-Fi?
This ticket will reopen automatically when you reply.

He means Wi Fi with no Internet (To play LAN games).

Confirming bug. We sometimes play minecraft this way. Old mobile (without SIM) create hotspot and connected players can play together (as via LAN). But now in 1.20.10 - 1.20.12 this is not working anymore. World is showing up, but connecting gives an error.

Unfortunately, 1.19.80 just started

Currently using v1.20.81 and unfortunately this issue still remains.

While connected to a Wi-Fi network that lacks Internet access, the ‘Visible over LAN’ toggle under the world settings turns off while on the loading screen of each world. After the world loads, this can be seen in settings where this toggle is now off. This prevents the world from being hosted over LAN.

Edit: the toggles are called "Visible to LAN players" and "multiplayer game" they are both on before loading the world and after loading the world the "multiplayer game" toggle is off.

Confirmed with 2 x identical Android 14 tablets Minecraft 1.21.2.

If internet is disconnected during game, game remains stable, so this looks to be a problem in the discovery / LAN publishing process.

Android is quick to recognise that there is no internet so not reliably possible to identify whether bug is related to Android internet status reporting (whether it thinks it has internet or not), or actually to lack of internet (whether internet is actually needed for local game discovery).

Have the same issue here.

We had a big storm and our internet went down.

We wanted to play on the lan server over wifi with android  phone, but could not!

Please allow to connect to a server without requiring internet, if the IP address is accessible there should be no internet check.

In case you want to "protect" minors... you could whitelist private IPv4 ranges to be accessible without internet connection.
