Hoppers suck items through solid blocks.
Replication:
1. Place a hopper
2. Place a block, such as dirt block, on top of the hopper
3. Drop an item on top of the dirt block.
Sorry I could not provide a specific device type. All I know is that it is RCA brand.

This bug has been reported to our internal bug tracker for further testing and a fix. It is scheduled to be fixed in one of the future updates (no specific date can be provided).

Confirmed for 0.15.90.8. Tested on Samsung TabPro SM-T520 on Android 4.4.2
