Returning to a pre-0.16 world in 0.16 I've found that golden (desert) rabbits are spawning with ludicrously high frequency in all grassy areas of my base. Most of my base is in a desert biome but they also spawn in the jungle parts, and appear to be ignoring the passive mob cap, since I'd never normally get passive spawns in the areas of my base that already have animals in.
It's possible I'm wrong but I was also under the impression desert rabbits should spawn on sand, not on grass? I've seen no evidence of them spawning in any sandy areas.
later edit: I can't reproduce this effect by adding grassy patches to newly created creative world deserts, but if I restore the same old survival world from the backup the problem is the same.

can confIrma. saw few rabbits before the 0.16.0 update now my base is crawling with them. I can kill 30 and they come back 10 kindness later and reproduce rappidly.
Having done some testing I found that replacing the grass with sand or clay prevents excess spawning as does having a roof of some sort over the grass.
I have a Taiga/Snow plains base in a pre-0.16 save too and while it's much harder to judge in that base's setup I strongly suspect a similar issue is going on there as well.

I came to report this issue, but I'll piggyback yours. I live in a mega tiagia biome and I have white rabbits everywhere; including my basement which has no grass at all. The little buggers are even getting in my furnace rail system clogging things up. Not to mention the lag is terrible.
