Blaze Spawner In Room Causes Crash

I have a blaze spawner in a Nether Fortress around which I have built a room with hoppers as a floor, connecting to a chest.

The front of the room is glass, with a 1 block hole in front of which I stand and attack the spawned blazes with a sword after about 10 seconds of standing here and attacking blazes, the game just freezes and crashes.

I have tried this in 2 different locations and the game still crashes

Also crashes on 0.16.1 (beta)

In a new game - I enter the nether; build a 7x7x7 room

put linked hoppers on the floor

put a blaze spawner in the middle of the room

leave a 1 block hole in the front of the room and attack blazes through this gap with a sword.. as soon as the blazes begin firing - the game crashes

The issue seems to be the hoppers. I recently updated my game to 0.16.1 and things went wrong when I loaded my survival world. I've had this world since 0.13 (or around that version). I have a skeleton spawner farm that automatically puts the items in chests with a hopper chain I added in 0.15, and it was working normally until I placed new hoppers in 0.16.1, now it just crashes upon join. I can't load my survival world, and I don't really want to delete it and start a new one. I thought addressing this in this existing issue would be a better idea than making a new issue since the context is sort of similar; spanwers and hoppers.

Does this issue still affect the latest version? Please reply if it does.

I will attempt this and let you know!

Ok - It isn't crashing anymore but the game becomes incredibly laggy even with all niceties turned off - Swinging the sword when there are many enemies around doesn't seem to work.

Ok thanks for the response.
