Any audio coming from behind the player is too low.
This seems to affect my 1.20.51 version of Minecraft for Windows, but the same version of Minecraft for Android doesn't seem to have this issue where the volume is consistent whether you face towards or away from the audio source.

Hello.
It seems to be an issue from nearby entities and blocks creating sounds, like noteblocks and zombies. It didn't matter.
I use stereo headphones when playing Minecraft and the only audio-related software I use is Realtek Audio Console, which comes with my Windows. However, I have tweaked some settings in that software but it didn't seem to fix the issue.
I have Audio Enhancements enabled and disabling it seems to fix the issue. Toggling that option also enables/disables Signal Enhancements in the Speaker Settings, and vice versa.
It seems that Minecraft in Windows follows the settings configured to the connected audio device. In-game audio settings does not have the option for enabling/disabling surround sound, or switching between stereo and mono.
Resolving as Cannot Reproduce based on your response, since this is a result of Windows audio enhancements.
I think the audio enhancements that Windows applies for a "headphone" device focuses the sound in front of you because it assumes headphones are being used for voice communication over top of whatever other sounds are occurring. I suppose it's sort of like how hearing aids can reduce background noise to focus on conversation near you.

Hi there!
I have some questions regarding your issue.
Can you specify from what is the room made of? Does it occurs in other places?
What do you use specifically to make sounds?
Do you use headphones/speakers? Do You use specific application for that devices?
Do you use specific system sound settings?
Please see Settings > System > Sound > All sound devices > Speakers, and then “Audio Enhancements"
Also, do you have any Windows sound enhancements turned on? (check speaker settings>system>sound>properties>advanced>signal enhancements)
