The game only recognizes Mouse1,2,3 but no side buttons!

When trying to keybind sprint or any other hotkey to mouse4 or mouse5 (side buttons) the game completely ignores input as if I had not pressed anything. I am using a Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse with up to date Logitech drivers. The expected outcome would be I reassign a key, press mouse4 and the key is reassigned to mouse4. This is huge trouble to me and most PC gamers if this is intended as we could reassign that key using macros but that would then require switching all our keybindings in every other game which most do support mouse buttons.
