When mining a cauldron filled with lava, the cauldron does not drop as an item. It does drop when filled with water.
Steps to reproduce:
open a world in Survival mode, any difficulty.
Place an empty cauldron.
Fill cauldron with lava bucket.
Mine filled cauldron with pick axe (I used an iron one).
Observed Results:
Cauldron is destroyed
Expected Results:
An Empty Cauldron should drop as an item to be picked up by the player. You lose the lava that it held, but retain the Cauldron.

Expected Results:
An Empty Cauldron should drop as an item to be picked up by the player. You loose the lava that it held, but retain the Cauldron.
NOTE: filling cauldron with water in place of lava yields the proper result.
Here is what actually happens: the cauldron does drop, but the game creates the cauldron item before removing the lava cauldron block, and the cauldron item then gets destroyed inside the lava cauldron block!
