Affected screens:
Settings: bottom and sides have transparent gaps
Marketplace: bottom and the left sidebar have transparent gaps, top bar's fade out animation is not fully applied
Dressing Room: left sidebar has a transparent gap, top bar's fade out animation is not fully applied
Join the Event: top bar has a transparent gap
Chat: everywhere outside of the screen safe area has transparent gaps
Structure block: top bar has a transparent gap
Any chest/barrel/shulker box/dropper/dispenser/crafter with Pocket UI: top bar's sides are cut off
New Profile screen: Friends and Followers sections' bottom has a transparent gap
New Play screen: bottom has a transparent gap
New Create New World screen: bottom has a transparent gap
New Edit World screen: bottom has a transparent gap
New Servers screen: Server's description's bottom has a transparent gap
Old Join Realm screen: everywhere outside of the screen safe area has transparent gaps
Steps to reproduce:
Go to Settings -> Video -> "Change Screen Safe Area" and set it to a small value
Open any of the affected screens listed above in the Affected screens list
Observed result:
Areas outside of the screen safe area do not render properly in some cases.
Expected result:
Areas outside of the screen safe area render properly in all cases.

After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.
Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.

Can confirm in 1.21.2.
Steps to reproduce:
Go to Settings>Video>"Change Screen Safe Area" and set safe value to about 70 or less.
Now load into any world and open chat. Notice that chat ui has big "holes" at corners.
Now pause the game and go to Marketplace. Notice that fade out animation is not applied to corners.
