Select Button Not Working on iOS/iPadOS when Clicked on Nintendo Controller

As the title suggests, the Select Button (or most commonly known as the Minus Button) on the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and Joy-Con does not function when playing on Minecraft. This is an aggravating problem that I had for over a year now, as the Minus button is used to see all mob/potion effects and accepting play invites in-game. Every other app on iOS/iPadOS is able to detect the Minus button being clicked (obviously applications that do support the select button).

Steps to Reproduce (in the main menu):

  1. Connect a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller (or Joy-Cons) to an iOS/iPadOS device

  2. Launch Minecraft

  3. Go to Settings > Controller

  4. Try re-mapping a control by clicking on it

  5. Click the Minus button

or

  1. Click the Minus button when receiving a play invite or a Realm server invitation (with the Minus button being mapped to the Open Notifications/Mob Effects toggle)

Steps to Reproduce (in a world):

  1. Open a world

  2. Apply any GUI visible effect through potions, arrows, or the '/effect' command

  3. Click the Minus button to see if it opens up the Mob Effects GUI (make sure that the Select button[Minus button] is mapped to the Open Notifications/Mob Effects toggle.

Observed Results:

The Minus button does not do anything at all and is not detected when clicked in the game. I am unable to open invitations and open the Mob Effects list.

Expected Results:

The Minus button works as expected, and is detected when clicked. I am able to open invitations and open the Mob Effects list.

I wonder if this is an iOS issue, as iOS detects the switch controller as an Xbox one and has funky button mapping that doesn't tend to match with controller hints in most games.

Yes, this occurs on iOS and iPadOS. Many other games support the 'Minus Button,' but for some reason Minecraft cannot. The Controller Hints are also swapped, as you stated.

I've been playing on switch since 1.16 or 1.17 and not come across this one. Try updating the docking station in setting it fixed a connectivity issue I had with wireless keyboard

Hello, @Psyionysus. We are referring to iOS and iPadOS systems, not the Switch System.

While I cannot confirm with the switch controller, I can attest that the problem affects Xbox controllers
