Beds tell you that you can sleep during a thunderstorm at night

when trying to click a bed, it says “You can only sleep at night and during thunderstorms”.

and it means you can sleep during a thunderstorm at nighttime.

my suggestion would be to change “and” to “or”.

so: it would say “You can sleep only at night or during thunderstorms”.

"or" implies one or the other but not both. However, you can sleep during thunderstorms at night, so "or" is also misleading. Sometimes in English "and/or" is used for the inclusive or, but that comes across as overly technical in this context.

I think the confusion really comes from the word "only" in this sentence. "Only" implies a single option or condition, and that influences us interpret either "and" or "or" in a way that restricts the number of logical possibilities. So "and" is taken as "only both, not one or the other," and "or" is taken as "only one or other the other, not both." If the sentence said "You can sleep at night and during thunderstorms." I think it would be less confusing. The meaning is "You can sleep at night and [you can sleep] during thunderstorms." But then it does not emphasize that is giving the reason why you can't sleep at present.
