Players have reported random entity loss (“despawn”) for years. Reports were collected under 'MCPE-21416 until that report was resolved as described in the final comment I left there. The issue has continued to be reported, but with no repro (MCPE-187561, MCPE-187813, MCPE-187958) I now have a world that consistently reproduces the issue in the current Preview. Repro in current release (1.21.61 Hotfix) happens less frequently and sometimes resolves on relog.
Steps to reproduce
Load [mediaInline]. This is a custom flat world that has the biome set to ice spikes and chunks marked with different colored glass for testing creeper farm designs. It contains a high-tech creeper farm in which ocelots trapped in minecarts are constantly bounced up and down to scare large numbers of creepers into drop chutes. Command blocks in the center chunk run scoreboards to track various data. A lever marked by a sign toggles mob spawning and time counting. Included in the scoreboard are counts of minecarts, ocelots, and tridents that get updated every 5 seconds.
Flip the lever to turn the farm on and watch the scoreboards
Expected result
The number of minecarts, ocelots, and tridents never changes since there is nothing in the farm that could damage them.
Observed result
After a few minutes the count of minecarts, ocelots, or tridents goes down.

This has definitely not been resolved. My named horses and a donkey attached with a lead also despawned out of nowhere. I can still see the lead “animation”, or whatever you call it, on the fence, but when I right-click on it, the lead doesn’t pop out. Please fix your despawning issues. It is annoying and a waste of time. I had a diamond armor and a saddle on that horse, and a saddle on the donkey. Now, I have lost two saddles, which you cannot even make in-game.
