Players wearing Netherite Armor aren't launched up nearly as high as they should be by mace smash attacks with wind burst

NOTE: I am aware that Netherite Armor has knockback resistance, so it should reduce the launch, but not this much.

When a player is wearing Netherite Armor, they barely get launched up from a successful smash attack at all with a Wind Burst mace. The launch is like 0.5 blocks.

How to replicate:

  1. Enchant a mace with Wind Burst, and land a successful smash attack on a mob. (Ravagers are highly recommended as the test mob, as they seem to be the easiest mob in the game to smash with a Mace) Take note of how far up you get launched.

  2. Equip yourself with full Netherite Armor, and repeat step #1.

Expected Result:

Since full Netherite gives you 40% knockback resistance, the vertical knockback should be 40% lower.

Actual Result:

The vertical knockback is 95ish% lower

this is also the case for wind charges

As someone who also tired PvP with Mace wind burst enchant, this is completely true. Matter of fact the Wind Burst 3 effect is almost non-existent when diving onto opponents using elytra. You also take fall damage sometimes even when you successfully Mace Smash your opponent.

I was gonna report this bug thank god someone else also noticed it.

Its not just netherite either, wind charges in general don’t launch you up as high as they should compared to java.

@Matthew Avian Yes, it is true that in general you don't get launch up as much as you will on Java. However, this is due to the different in velocity and knockback system in the two version. The netherite armor tho, reduce your launch because of the knockback-resistance effect, which isn’t a problem in Java, making it hard to use wind charge. Still, during mace pvp, you can get a decent launch even with netherite armor using the wind charge right after you jump, which can boost you for around 15-17 blocks high with the right timing and angle.
