Just spent half an hour testing, it seems to be an issue with ANY mob that can provoke another mob without some sort of external modification. The mobs I tested are as follows:
Llama, Pufferfish, Skeleton, Stray, Drowned with Trident, Witch, Piglin with Crossbow, Warden, Blaze, Ghast, Shulker, Johnny Vindicator, Evoker, Pillager, Breeze, and Bogged. Neither Slimes nor Magma Cubes retaliated against ANY of these mobs.
No, pretty sure this is intentional. In 1.21.50, Evokers and Vindicators (which are the only mobs that spawn in mansions) were made to despawn in peaceful just like other monsters
Can confirm it’s still an issue in 1.21.70.25. Please, PLEASE, PLEASE fix this, I beg.
This is a bug because mobs that still have health shouldn’t be able to EVER disappear or despawn, unless at least one of these two conditions is met:
The mob is not persistent
The mob is a hostile mob, and Peaceful difficulty is turned on
A bit of clarification: Being able to do this at all isn’t the issue. The bug allowing for this to happen was patched roughly three years ago. The issue is that they now vanish for no reason, despite still having health
It's worth mentioning, I know that the mobs are invincible because the glitch tricks the game into thinking they're already dead. So maybe a check could be added to see if the dead mobs have any health left before being deleted
OcelotOnesie, here's the download. Sorry I wasn't able to send it earlier because I was at work:

I’m aware these enchantments are only normally avaliable at level I, but some people such as myself put in a lot of effort downgrading to get Curse of Binding/Vanishing 2+ books. I really, REALLY hope Mojang fixes this
Oh. I didnt see that
Can we get a confirmation that Mojang will fix this bug? I’m worried this’ll be one of those bugs that Mojang won’t care to fix
I REALLY hope this gets fixed. I put in a lot of effort collecting large mobs in boats, including a Ghast and an Elder Guardian.
Affects 1.20.15. I think I may have some information about this bug. I had this issue with an Elder Guardian, and using an NBT editor, I found that it's "PortalCooldown" was set to 299. So the issue seems to be that mobs don't have their portal cooldown go down correctly.
Affects 1.20.12. I don't want to come off as rude, but why isn't it fixed? It seems like it would be super easy to fix. They just have to rename two lines of code.
Affects 1.20.0. I tested it with a Pillager. I gave myself saturation 255 and resistance 5 and then went afk for a few hours in a hole with a Pillager. Came back and the Pillager's crossbow wasn't broken.
Affects 1.20.0. I don't mean to be rude, but when will this be fixed? It's becoming almost unbearable to try and traverse the Nether. It seems to happen in bastions too, there's an unfair amount of Piglin Brutes. Mojang, PLEASE fix this ASAP.
Affects 1.19.80. Hope this gets fixed soon.
PLEASE tell me this’ll be fixed, I’m worried it’ll be marked as WAI
