Brown-coated villagers with sufficient food that are in proximity of hungry villagers, will initially pull out food to share, however if a harvestable crop is also within range, the brown-coated villager will not share the food before harvesting crop. This behavior breaks automatic farms larger than 14 x 14 blocks in that if there are enough crops, the villager will eventually never share any food because the crops are constantly maturing and becoming harvestable.
Edit by @unknown: This can be fixed by simply changing the priority of the behavior components of villager.json in the vanilla behavior pack.

FYI - in the Java / Desktop version, villagers will share food with hungry villagers BEFORE harvesting crops if they have enough food in their inventory.
After some testing, I'd suggest updating the default villager priorities in vanilla Minecraft to first, plant crops (if enough available in inventory) second, share food with hungry villagers (if sufficient food in inventory), third, harvest crops. Please comment with discussion on this issue. SuperGeniusJeb - are you suggesting that users update their own json files, or were you suggesting a global update to json files with the release of an upcoming version? Sorry, I'm new to submitting feedback on this site, but have worked with updates to various software releases extensively in the past.
@unknown, the game uses its own default vanilla resource pack and behavior pack. I am suggesting that the devs simply modify the default pack and include the change in the next minor update, since that should fix the bug.
Their AI is too focused on crops. THEY will run out or stay out at night to harvest crops. Also villagers stand by the sides of houses at night instead of inside. But yes the farmers need to stop with the crops it's annoying.
