Player briefly appears in wrong location when use Nether portal if destination portal does not yet exist.

For some reason, when going through a Nether portal, if it’s in a new position, the portal will not instantly be created, and you will appear in a nearby area and after a moment, the portal will appear, and you will be teleported to the position. One time in creative mode, I created a Nether portal, and I was in lava for a while and then when the portal appeared, it was under the lava, and I was in the portal as if it happed correctly. Now if it was in a location that had already had a portal, you will be in the correct position and after you move out of the portal, you will be teleported back into the portal, but you won't go back into the dimension you were previously in. I have only tested this in single-player creative mode.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go into a Nether Portal.

  2. Wait.

  3. You appear in a different area with no portal and then after a while the portal will appear, and you will be teleported to its position. (x)

How to fix:

Maybe try making it so that the chunks that the portal is in load first. Also, 1.21.90 is almost here so this must be done A.S.A.P.

I think that Mojang changed the name.

Hi there!

Could you please provide us with this information?

  • On which exactly platform the issue occurs?

  • Could you write down steps to reproduce the issue?

  • Does the issue occurs on a single or multiplayer world?

This ticket will reopen automatically when you reply.

[MCQA] Zgajak, you probably didn’t see this but in the Platform area, I put Windows.

Hi
Could you let us know if you're using any add-ons or resource packs in your world?
Could you also possibly check if this issue occurs in your world after newest update or upload a copy of your world?

This ticket will automatically reopen when you reply.

I did not use any add-ons and/or resource packs in my world (responding to [MCQA] v-wiktoriab). Also, I am glad that this issue was fixed before Game Drop 2025 2 (1.21.90) because a lot of people (probably including me) will probably be trying to get dried ghast blocks from The Nether.

Why did this get reopened?

I tested this in 1.21.82 and it's still not fixed.
