Sun textures in texture packs are ignored when Vibrant Visuals is enabled

When Vibrant Visuals is enabled, custom sun textures in texture packs do not render, instead just appearing as the default texture.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Import and apply the provided example texture pack, which replaces the sun texture with a test texture.

  • Load the world with Vibrant Visuals enabled. Observe that the sun looks like normal with no custom texture.

  • Load the world again, this time with Fancy graphics instead of Vibrant Visuals. Notice that the custom sun texture now renders properly.

Observed behavior: The custom sun texture only works when Vibrant Visuals is disabled (ie. with “Fancy” or “Simple” graphics)

Expected behavior: The custom sun texture should render regardless of the graphics mode. It functioned this way until recently when Vibrant Visuals was taken out of experimental.

As mentioned in the 1.21.80 release changelog: "Texture Packs are not compatible with the new mode at this time".
Please watch the changelogs for updates.

That line is referring to Marketplace packs.

Note from the team: This is By Design - the Sun texture has two locations, one for Vibrant Visuals and one for Fancy/Simple modes. You would have to update the sun.png and/or sun_VV.png to have different textures for each mode in their texture pack.
