Unable to split screen on realms

My boyfriend and I play on realms on my Xbox and do split screen. We usually play on his account and I join in by logging into mine and we have never had a problem. We were going to play today for the new update, but every time I went to join in the split screen pops up and says it’s logging me in but then after a couple of seconds it goes to a full screen error message saying that the account is currently already playing in the world on a separate device. My boyfriend logged into my account only and I was successful in getting into the realm by myself but when he tried to join in it did the same thing. We tried logging out of both of our accounts and signing back in, making sure we had both completely quit out of Minecraft before trying to sign in, deleting the game and reinstalling it, I even tried to join in as a guest account and it still did the same thing. My boyfriend closed the realm and reopened it and we even went so far as to call my boyfriends brother to have him turn off his computer at his house just in case he had accidentally left it on over there. We’re not really sure what else we can do but we’re really excited to play the update, we’ve just never had this issue before so I’m thinking it might be some sort of bug with the new update today.
