Died after stepping off happy ghast

So, I was just riding my happy Ghast that I just got, and i wanted to step off of the ghast. When i did this i was like 40-50 blocks above the ground. But the moment i clicked ‘B' to step off of my ghast, I just collapsed and died. (The died message said i felled from a high place, but i didn’t even fall, i just collapsed) My stuff was like 50ish blocks away from the place i stepped off of the ghast, so I think the game was confused about my location. How did this happen and can it get fixed? (btw i also once stepped off of a happy ghast that was on the ground and got teleported 10 blocks away and got 3 hearts off fall damage with feather falling 4)
