Me and my brother were playing Minecraft PE and it started lagging, so we closed out Minecraft PE and went back on and all of the progress that we made was gone. We had gotten all of our materials and such and it was all completely gone.

Yes, I have noticed this as well. If you either crash out of a game or simply close your iPad for any reason when you next load the game a lot of your progress has been lost - and I mean approx 10-20 minute's worth. Previously, if you had to put your iPad down for any reason then you were certain to be able to go back to the point you left it. This is no longer the case with version 1.1. I think there is something seriously wrong with the way the game is handling iOS memory and links in to all the trouble with rendering, the fact that maximum rendering has been set to just 6 chunks etc. Makes me think they know they have a problem and that older, less powerful iPads can no longer handle the game as I am on an iPad 3.
