When crafting a copper golem with the full level of oxidation and then summoning a lightning bolt at the copper golem's location the copper golem is deoxidized to a level of oxidation less than the prior state. However, after additional lightning strikes the copper golem is killed. It is important to note that it is the fire created by the lightning that inflicts the damage and not the lightning itself. The change log did not state if lightning bolt had an effect on copper golem health or not but it seems that there was a conscious decision for lightning to deoxidize a copper golem (in addition to using an axe). It seemed strange that lightning would hurt a copper golem (even indirectly) as that was stated as a copper golem energy source in the previous introduction of the copper golem. Perhaps it would be possible for the copper golem to gain brief fire resistance when struck by the lightning bolt to prevent this indirect lightning damage.

The video above uses the command “/execute at @e[type=copper_golem] run summon lighning_bolt “. You can see that alfter two lightning bolt impacts the copper golem has taken enough damage to be killed.
Thank you for the video. The copper golem is catching on fire from the fire created by the lightning, and then taking damage from the fire. It doesn’t take damage directly from the lightning bolt. Would you like to update the report to focus on the copper golem catching fire and taking fire damage?
