Happy Ghasts despawning seemingly at random

Experienced an issue today that seemingly multiple people on Reddit are experiencing as well. When my harnessed Happy Ghast was left attached to a fence via a lead, it seemingly despawned at random. Was within the span of 5 minutes or so of me leaving it. I was still in the same area as the happy ghast (within 50 blocks or so) doing some crafting in my base. The fence was on top of a mountain. I tried to rule out if the Ghast had somehow suffocated, but could not find the harness, nor the lead in the vicinity. Attached is a couple screenshots of the fence position relative to my base, and the environment surrounding it. This is very disappointing as I spent a good couple of hours trading with Piglins to get this Ghast in my survival world.

Have you updated from 1.21.92 to 1.21.93? We have not really been able to investigate reports like this because the suffocation bug was a know cause of happy ghast going missing, but that is fixed in 1.21.93.

I had it updated to 1.21.93 at the time the bug occurred, I cleared a massive flat spot on the top of that same mountain, and placed my fence and lead in the very center of the flat spot, and haven’t experienced the disappearance issue again. So it’s possible that putting the lead so close to the other blocks on the side of the hill like that caused the ghast ai to suffocate due to its large hitbox and I just didn’t get my items back.

I was riding my happy ghast, logged out of the game, came back a few hours later and i fell out of the sky because the ghast despawned. Luckily i was in the ocean lol but im 2000 blocks away from home

I'm using version 1.21.100 and there are 2 happy ghast that delete themselves leaving only the mount

I experienced this issue, with two out of four happy ghasts disappearing in a Creative world, but I later found them both unleashed and wandering out of sight. They were initially tethered on a roof to separate fences, and I don’t think they could have suffocated. I think it was version 1.21.94, and it was Bedrock Edition. You should check the areas just out of sight of the fence post for your ghast.

I updated the game to version 1.21.121. When I opened it the happy ghast in my most recently played world had diappeared
