I updated the game to version 1.21.121. When I opened it the happy ghast in my most recently played world had diappeared

We are also experiencing this issue on the Nintendo Switch after the most recent update.

"Abandoned connection closed" when trying to join any Realms world.

I believe this should either be in the Minecraft Java edition section or be forwarded to support and, what version of the game are you using if it is modded please try replicating this on vanilla.

That's because damage gives you Horizontal and Vertical knockback so, if you combine that with a jump you can do a 2.5 block high jump. From jumping (1.25 blocks high in 1.9+) and the Vertical knockback you can go much higher.

I thought it was intentional.

If you have not already, please save your .minecraft then reinstall Minecraft and see if that works.
