vanilla resource folders starting with 1.21.70 contain a file called StarterSeeds.txt

Steps to reproduce

  1. In Windows Explorer Navigate to the current Minecraft folder in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\

  2. In the Minecraft folder, go to \data\resource_packs\ and then into the folders for 1.21.70, 1.21.80, 1.21.90, 1.21.120, and 26.10.

  3. Look at the list of files and folders in those folders.

Expected results

The folders would contain only files that are used by the game.

Observed results

The folders contain StarterSeeds.txt, which contains a list of 40 integers, one on each line. Presumably these are world seeds. The folder for 26.10 also contains a file called CreativeStarterSeeds.txt

Comments 3

The file exists in the folders for 1.21.70, 1.21.80, 1.21.90, and 1.21.120 so far.

This file is used by the game. When a new player creates their first world, a seed is selected from StarterSeeds.txt.

キ: I think your claim does not make any sense. This file is in the resources folder, which would only be used by the client thread, not the server thread. Moreover, the file does not exist before 1.21.70. Finally, the game has always randomly generated a seed if the player does not choose one.
