Place a fence in front of it

The fence connects to the air.

when placing a fence block, it shows as if there was a full block there that needs to be connected
Normally, fences should not connect across empty space to partial blocks like trapdoors. But this behavior actually provides useful building possibilities, and its preservation as an intentional feature would benefit builders.
