[MCPE-225650] Copper golem loses items when turning into statue

Copper golems lose items when they turn into statues. This is not intuitive for new players, and people can lose really valuble items if they didn’t know to wax them.

I would expect them to keep the items in their hand when turning into statues, and you can take it from them

However, this issue is Working as Intended.

The report you have submitted is working as intended: from the 1.21.110.20 Preview changelog

When turned into a Copper Golem Statue the Copper Golem will drop any item it may be holding.

Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.

Thanks for the quick feedback. And I see, that’s very unfortunately though. It feels the player will be unfairly punished for not knowing some detail about the game
