Create any world in creative and give yourself a Torch with Point lights. (This works with any torch that functions as point lights)
Place about 20-30 normal torches. Or Soul torches. Now Observe how shadow casting and light spread works.
Now place a bunch of Redstone torches around. About 15-30 and observe what happens.
Expected results - point lights should cast normal shadows and light spread without odd lines appearing and the light spread should not stop abruptly at odd angles. And the screen should not suddenly turn completely black when there are a lot of Redstone torches on screen.
Actual results - you can observe Redstone torch casting improper shadows. Light spread breaks and becomes Jagged when too many point lights are placed. And in most cases a large number of Redstone torches with point lights causes the screen to turn black.

The lighting documentation specifically advises not to set lava as a point light.
Understandable. However it shows how bad the game can break when large numbers of point lights are placed without having to hand place tons yourself.
Besides - these issues aren’t exclusive to Lava. As you can see in my screenshots.
It is just farther exaggerated when you have large pools of lava which is the same as massive amounts of point lights in one area.
I will also mention the lighting documentation doesn’t specifically say don’t set lava as a point light.
It says “This modeling works well for blocks such as torches, but isn't as good for conveying blocks with larger, discrete shapes, such as lava blocks or campfires.”
Which is not related to the issue I have mentioned. This is specifically because Point lights do not function correctly with full solid blocks. For example they do not cast shadows.
Still happening in the latest preview.
Also a new bug has occurred.
After removing the point light block - the actual point light doesn’t go away. Only the block.
This breaking of the games rendering is 100x worse if you set Lava as a Point light and place a bucket of lava on a Hill.
Massive glitched textures start appearing that stretch into the sky.
