Dithering reveals the insides of mobs

The bug

The new feature that makes mobs transparent exposes their insides when you are close to them. This looks pretty jarring. It’s expected that you see all the way through the mob, not x-ray the top layer.

How to reproduce

  1. Spawn a sheep or shulker on top of a block, so it’s at eye-level

  2. Walk up to it

Expected result

The entire mob should become dithered, so it’s partially transparent without revealing the insides

Observed result

You get x-ray vision and can see the inner layers of the mob that are not supposed to be visible
