Summary:
Beginning with the Copper Age update (1.21.111), the game always displays the “Loading resource packs” pop-up after launching and loading into the main menu, even when no resource packs are active. This issue did not occur in any of the 1.21.111 Preview versions, nor does it occur in current Preview builds—it only affects Stable release versions.
Although the pop-up only remains on-screen for a few seconds, it unnecessarily delays the time before the game becomes fully usable, as the game does not sign into your Microsoft Account until this pop-up disappears.
Steps to Reproduce:
Launch Minecraft 1.21.123 with no active resource packs.
Wait for the game to finish loading into the main menu.
Observe the pop-up that appears.
Observed Results:
A “Loading resource packs” pop-up always appears after the game loads into the main menu.
Expected Results:
This pop-up should not appear, consistent with the behavior in the Preview versions and older Stable versions.
Can confirm. This has been an issue for years even before 1.21.111 (at least for me). I thought I was alone in experiencing this, but I guess not.
If the game needs to load a resource pack in order to function properly, then that loading sequence should be moved into main loading screen that shows when the game launches so that the player has instant access to the main menu without being delayed.
