Device: Huawei Pura 70 Ultra (Processor: Kirin 9010, GPU: Mali)
Android Version: EMUI 14.0.2
Game Version Affected: ALL versions starting from 1.21.115 and above, including latest beta 1.21.130.28
Game Version Working Perfectly: 1.21.114 (and all previous versions)
Problem Description:
Starting with game version 1.21.115, severe graphical corruption appears in the game. This includes:
1. UI Corruption:
- Random numbers and text artifacts overlaying the UI and game world
- Corrupted texture rendering
2. Glass Rendering Bug:
- Both glass blocks and glass panes of any color lose their texture when viewed at close range
- When player approaches very close to glass, the texture completely disappears, making colored glass appear as regular transparent glass
- This affects visibility and breaks the intended visual effect of colored glass
The problem is 100% reproducible on all versions after 1.21.114. On version 1.21.114 and all earlier versions, the game works perfectly with no issues.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install any Minecraft version starting from 1.21.115 or newer on Huawei Pura 70 Ultra
2. Launch the game - UI artifacts appear immediately
3. Place any colored glass block or pane in the world
4. Approach the glass very closely - the texture disappears, making it look like regular transparent glass
Additional Information:
- The issue affects both the stable release versions (1.21.115+) and beta versions
- Problem occurs in both existing worlds and newly created worlds
- No resource packs or mods installed - clean game installation
- Device has adequate storage space and memory
- Game restarts and device reboots don't fix the issue
- Glass rendering bug affects all colors of glass blocks and panes equally
This is a regression bug - functionality that worked in 1.21.114 broke in subsequent versions. The glass rendering issue specifically indicates problems with transparent/alpha texture handling in the new versions.

Thank you for the notification. I have updated the "Affected Versions" field to show the exact version from the Minecraft title screen: 1.21.124.02.
The issue description and steps to reproduce remain accurate. Please reopen the report for review.
UPDATE: MOBS TEXTURE TRANSLUCENCY BUG
In addition to the glass rendering issue, I've discovered another critical graphics bug:
Problem: Mob textures become unnaturally translucent/semi-transparent when viewed at close range.
What happens:
- Mob textures appear "see-through" with improper alpha transparency
- This affects all mob types (animals, monsters, etc.)
- The effect is most noticeable at close distances
- Makes mobs look like "ghosts" with visible background through their textures
This appears to be related to the same underlying graphics rendering issue that affects glass transparency, suggesting a systemic problem with alpha channel/texture transparency handling in versions after 1.21.114.
Proof:
Hello Mojang team!
Just checking if there are any updates on this issue. I wanted to follow up and mention that the bug remains 100% reproducible on Huawei Pura 70 Ultra with all versions after 1.21.114.
The graphical corruption seriously affects gameplay:
- UI artifacts make menus difficult to read
- Glass blocks/panes lose textures at close range
- Mobs become unnaturally translucent at close distance
Thank you for your attention to this regression bug!
Based on the images, the mob and block transparency may or may not be caused by the enable dithering for mobs and enable dithering for blocks settings found in the accessibility part of settings.
UPDATE: ISSUE RESOLVED - IDENTIFIED ROOT CAUSE
Thank you for the guidance! I tested further and found the solution:
Root Cause: In versions 1.21.115+, the "Enable Dithering for Mobs" and "Enable Dithering for Blocks" settings in Accessibility are turned ON by default, causing the transparency/translucency bug on Huawei Pura 70 Ultra.
Solution: Turning OFF both dithering settings immediately fixes:
- Mob texture translucency
- Glass block transparency
- All rendering artifacts
Important Note: These settings don't exist in 1.21.114 (which explains why that version works perfectly).
This appears to be a device-specific compatibility issue where the dithering implementation doesn't work correctly with Kirin 9010/Mali GPU.
Suggestion: Perhaps these dithering settings should be OFF by default for Mali GPU devices, or have better device-specific compatibility checks.
**UPDATE: SOLUTION CONFIRMED**
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction! I've identified the exact issue:
**Root Cause:** In versions 1.21.115+, the "Enable Dithering for Mobs" and "Enable Dithering for Blocks" settings are enabled by default in Accessibility options.
**Solution:** Disabling both dithering settings completely resolves:
- Mob texture translucency at close range
- Glass block transparency issues
- All related rendering artifacts on Huawei Pura 70 Ultra
**Workaround confirmed:** Users with similar devices can manually disable these settings to fix the graphics corruption.
Thank you for your assistance in diagnosing this!
With this workaround confirmed, I can now successfully use newer versions. Perhaps consider making these settings disabled by default for Mali GPU devices, or improving the dithering compatibility.
Thanks again for your help!
FINAL UPDATE: With the dithering settings disabled, all graphical issues are resolved on my Huawei Pura 70 Ultra.
This report can likely be closed now, though perhaps consider making these settings device-aware for future Mali GPU users.
Thank you for the assistance!
