End gateway blocks can still be destroyed by wither skulls unlike Java

The Bug:

End gateway blocks are supposed to always be indestructible, meaning survival players cannot mine it and TNT cannot break it, but the wither’s wither skulls can still completely destroy the block in itself as of the latest versions.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start a new world in creative with cheats.

  2. Run command: /execute in the_end run tp 0 128 0

  3. Run command: /kill @e[type=ender_dragon]

  4. Once the dragon is gone, look for the generated end gateway without entering it.

  5. Stand on top of the end gateway.

  6. Run command: /fill ~5 ~5 ~5 ~-5 ~-5 ~-5 bedrock outline

  7. At this point, you need to remain inside the bedrock box you just created for the rest of the main reproduction steps. If you want to, follow the optional steps, but after doing them, return to the main steps starting from step 8.

  8. Summon a wither using 4 blocks of soul sand and 3 wither skull blocks.

  9. Summon copper golems if you need to. It might be helpful to spawn a copper golem right beside the end gateway block.

  10. The end gateway block can be gone once a wither skull projectile hits it (Which is always a dangerous wither skull projectile at least).

Reproducing again from the same world (optional but highly recommended):

  1. Optionally, back up the end gateway block so the bug can be reproduced again in the same world. You need to be standing on top of the newly generated end gateway’s topmost bedrock block (not the top of the bedrock box you have made). You need to run this command: /clone ~ ~-3 ~ ~ ~-3 ~ ~ ~10 ~ replace normal

  2. When you need to reproduce this bug report again, just run this command. Again, you need to be standing on top of the generated end gateway’s topmost bedrock block (not the top of the bedrock box you had made): /clone ~ ~10 ~ ~ ~10 ~ ~ ~-3 ~ replace normal

Troubleshooting:

Sometimes the wither may not go towards the target you intend to use, such as the copper golem. If this is the case, if you want to, turn off mob spawning, then try running this command: /kill @e[type=enderman]

Notes:
This active bug report specifically covers the destruction of the end gateway block in itself by wither explosions. The end gateway block dropping as an item was already patched out long ago in a separate, now fixed bug report. MCPE-47174
