After the 1.18 update, the spawning rules for hostile mobs like zombies were changed to only allow spawning at block light level 0, with sky light level 0-7, to prevent mobs from spawning near player-built light sources. However, this new rule was not applied to zombie horses. Zombie horses incorrectly retain the old spawning logic, allowing them to spawn in areas with block light levels from 0 to 7. This undermines the intended player control over mob spawning, disrupts carefully built mob farms, and can create significant nuisance and danger near player bases.
How to Reproduce:
Create a world in Minecraft Bedrock Edition
In a suitable biome (e.g., plains), build a flat area or use an existing one.
Use torch to light the area ensure the block light is level between 1 and 7.
Ensure the sky light level is between 0 and 7 (e.g., at night).
Wait for a natural zombie horse spawn.
Observed Result:
Zombie horses can spawn in the prepared area where the block light level is between 1 and 7.
Expected Result:
Following the post-1.18 hostile mob spawning rules, zombie horses should only be able to spawn in areas where the block light level is exactly 0 (and sky light level is 0-7). They should not spawn in areas with any block light level from 1 to 7.
