I click to open the chat on any of my worlds and it makes the game crash

I don't have this specific issue, but occasional while typing in chat, it will cause the game to lock up, end eventually freeze, and then eventually crash. Yesterday however it managed to freeze my whole PC for around 20mins till it decided to restart itself.
