skin resets to a default skin on servers

When joining any server the skin resets to one of the default skins even when a custom is selected.

Steps to reproduce:

1 Select any custom or marketplace skin and ensure it is selected.

2 Join any multiplayer server

3 Now the skin changes to one of the default ones

4 Notice that the character preview also changes and the default skin stays on even when leaving the server

Expected results:

The skin should not change and should remain as the one we have chosen.

Actual results:

The skin changes to a default one like Steve and Kai.
