Minecraft Bedrock Edition crashes consistently when opening the chat or when the system keyboard appears.
This issue started after updating to HyperOS 3.0.3.0 on a POCO M7 Pro 5G running Android 16.
The crash happens immediately when:
opening chat in-game
the keyboard is displayed
or switching input focus to text fields
The game closes without error message and returns to home screen.
Device info:
Device: POCO M7 Pro 5G
OS: HyperOS 3.0.3.0 (Android 16)
Keyboard used: (Gboard / Xiaomi keyboard / autre)
Game mode: Survival / Creative (optionnel)
Steps to reproduce:
Launch Minecraft Bedrock Edition
Join a world
Open chat
Keyboard appears
Game crashes instantly
Expected result:
Chat should open normally and keyboard should appear without crashing.

Issue persists after reinstalling Minecraft
Cache cleared

2026/06/17I'm also troubled by this phenomenon.
At first I thought it was a problem with my phone's specs, but I'm a little relieved to know that others are experiencing the same thing. Thank you.
it starts to happen when I update my phone to HyperOS 3. After that my game can crash randomly when I need to use Gboard

Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.

I have the same issue.
Device: Motorola Moto G56 5G
Android: 16 (Build W1VOS36.88-36-7-7)
Minecraft: 1.21.32.2
The game crashes whenever I tap any text input field, including:
- Chat
- Sign editing
- Anvil rename
- World seed input
The issue happens in every world.
I tested with Gboard and another keyboard, with and without resource packs, and the game still crashes. Restarting the phone or force stopping Minecraft only fixes the issue temporarily. Other Android apps work normally; the problem only occurs in Minecraft.
