Piston bolts broken

Minecart changes in 26.30 have affected how minecarts interact with pistons causing contraptions to no longer work I've spent 3 years building a network rail system that is now useless please fix.

Build piston bolt using youtube link in 26.30 and try in older version you can see it’s changed.

The recent changes have broken a huge quantity of piston translocation devices I have built, and while I would like for it to be reverted, piston translocation is a longstanding bug, and I doubt that the fix will be reverted.

From my testing, the fix was that entities like minecarts are no longer pushed if there is a block hitbox in the way, which has also caused lots of other strange behavior (as covered in MCPE-239776 )

Optimally, a further fix would be to make piston pushing smooth, instead of just teleporting the entities (obviously, this was a much easier method of coding piston pushing, but it causes many strange behaviors), and fixing moving block stair hitboxes (which have long been full block hitboxes when moving for some reason)

Alot of “bugs” like trident killers get the pass due to positive use by the community I hope this gets the pass too as they cool and creative things this can provide for example my underground subway system which would be sad to go with the time ans commitment me and my server mates have put into it with stations ticket stall etc

The change to pistons in this update caused nearly every design i’ve publicized to break, and the workarounds that exist are incredibly limiting. I’d love to see this change reverted but i also understand it’s a parity change.

Literally everytime every single good thing from bedrock gets removed while java players are literally duping millions of tnts and concrete powder

Exactly Zeeshan the whole Parity thing is just away to remove cool and creative stuff from bedrock and give java new stuff the Parity system is very one side redstone will always not have Parity so why try and remove our redstone quirks since java redstone works due to old bugs when redstone was first implemented and bedrock redstone was coded to “how redstone should be” so its more intuitive but… if bugs that can be used for the good of the players they should be kept like Quasi-connectivity for example on java or trident killers on bedrock and I still remember how hard we had to fight to keep that in the game.

Hello,

Hope this message find you well.

Regarding the piston bolts on MC bedrock XBOX version.

My friend and I have recently been designing and testing binary encoders to hook up to slime piston bolts (40 to 60 to 80 blocks per second speed) and were surprised to find out the changes made to pistons made these methods of travel unusable.

We had this piston-bolt network hooked up on the realm previously and were planning on adding the split-travel selection later on.

The reintroduction of the piston bolts would be greatly appreciated.

On the other hand I would like to thank Mojang and its bug / development team for fixing the trident killer bug. In this previous bug tridents would fall through the blocks (passed through 1 & 1/2 blocks) and render trident killers useless over a long period of time.

The origins of this trade-off appears to come from changes to sticky pistons and potentially pistons in general.

  • Fixed Java parity issue where Cauldron/Composter blocks pulled by sticky pistons can pull player through walls (MCPE-181221)

I will be making an Blue-Ice highway to adjust for this change, however the unintentional removal of this feature does make the redstone travel options quite boring and slow.
