Sticky pistons placed by /fill do not extend properly

when pushing a redstone block under a piston placed by the fill command it does not extend properly

how to reproduce

  1. open the attached world

  2. stand on the oak plank at Y = -45 and run the commands

    /fill ~ ~ ~ ~5 ~ ~3 sticky_piston replace slime

    then

    /fill ~ ~ ~ ~5 ~ ~3 sticky_piston[“facing_direction“ = 1] replace sticky_piston
  3. activate the lever at the bottom of the tower

expected results: the redstone blocks should cause the pistons to extend

actual result: the pistons do not extend

  1. break the middle sticky pistons and replace them and they will extend properly

This happens because the /fill...replace command only replaces the piston base. It does not change the piston arm that was placed by the the first /fill command. The piston arm defines which side is able to be activated by redstone power. The first sticky pistons are pointing down and therefore the piston arms do not respond to redstone power from below.

@GoldenHelmet

I don't think it's that since he want to place closed sticky pistons so it's not supposed to need a piston arme and like he said when he update the sticky pistons they extend propely, so it's an issue with the /fill commande.

an issue with the /fill command not updating them.
