There are multiple disparities in render distance between different items, mobs and blocks. Some items do not appear in view until the player has moved closer to it, even though other items immediately adjacent appear before having to move. The rendering of these items, mobs and blocks does not appear to correspond to the either the render distance or the simulation distance set in the video options, rather it appears that they have their own render distance values that are overriding the global settings. This issue is especially apparent when using a spyglass.
Several examples - a large fenced area with many cows inside appears normal when close up, but the cows disappear and are not visible when viewed from over 63 blocks away with or without a spyglass. The same happens with buildings - external doors, trapdoors and fences disappear while some other blocks remain visible when viewed from a distance > 63 blocks. Smoke particles disappear after 47 blocks movement away from the source.
All the attached views are well within the global render (set to 28 chunks) and simulation distance (12 chunks).
