I am using an Xbox controller with an Xbox wireless adapter (that is, not in bluetooth mode). My PC is connected to my TV and operated with a bluetooth mouse and bluetooth keyboard.
If either bluetooth device is active when Minecraft is started, Minecraft will display the “controller disconnected” prompt when the device goes to sleep, even though the controller itself is not in fact disconnected (and other apps, such as Steam Big Picture Mode, respond to controller input just fine).
The workaround I have found is to switch off the bluetooth devices--for the mouse, this requires removing the battery. Once I do this, I can play as long as I want without interruption. If I do not, I will get interrupted as soon as either bluetooth device goes to sleep.
Reproduction Steps
You will need the following hardware configuration:
A bluetooth adapter
A keyboard and/or mouse paired with the adapter (the issue occurs with both/either device)
an Xbox wireless adapter dongle
an Xbox Windows controller paired with the wireless adapter (**not** bluetooth)
From the desktop:
Turn on the xbox controller
Launch the Xbox app and launch Minecraft Bedrock using the mouse
Set the mouse and keyboard aside and, using the xbox controller, start playing Minecraft
Expected result: ability to play Minecraft uninterrupted until the controller actually disconnects due to user input or battery depletion
Actual result: when the bluetooth devices go to sleep, the “controller disconnected” message appears on the screen, and can only be cleared by:
waking up the bluetooth device that went to sleep, or
turning off the xbox controller and turning it back on
If you do the former, the issue will repeat indefinitely unless you power off the bluetooth device instead of letting it go to sleep.

The mouse is a Microsoft Surface Mouse. idk the specific model, and I don’t think it’s that relevant because I’ve had the issue happen with both the mouse and the keyboard, so it is not device-specific.
The Bluetooth adapter is a TP-Link Bluetooth USB adapter UB500
as mentioned in the video, going to Device Manager and going to the Power Management tab of the TP-Link adapter and unchecking “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” does not change Minecraft’s behavior
no, before anyone asks: I am not willing to toggle the same setting on the mouse, I want it to go to sleep while I’m playing the game. It runs on alkaline batteries, so making it run constantly is a non-starter.
attached below is a recording of the issue occurring. it takes about 10 minutes for the bluetooth mouse to go to sleep. Note that this video was recorded using the current version, 1.26.5101 (26.51 in-game)
I tried to record a video, but Jira won’t let me attach it for some reason. It’s really not all that interesting.
I move the mouse
I dink around with the gamepad for 10 minutes
the “controller disconnected” message appears despite controller still being connected
I click the mouse and the “controller disconnected” message goes away
