So I think there is a bug with achievements because I crafted a Wood Sword, Pickaxe, and Wood Hoe but I get no achievements. I even made bread from wheat and still no achievements. So I think there is something wrong with achievements when it comes to crafting.

I have been experiencing the same thing, but for burning wood with wood to make charcoal, and for crafting an enchantment table. Some achievements work, others do not. Seems random.
No cheats, survival world created new in Better Together update beta, but playing through to release version.
Update: I was performing the wrong task for the burning wood achievement. Completed that today when I realized my mistake.
The Enchanting Table achievement did not recognize that I created one.
I have 5 achievements that won’t pop, Map Room, Taste of your own Medicine, Beam Me Up, Super Sonic, and Treasure Hunter. I have had several other achievements that did work. Any help?
I have been able to get all of the achievements. The only one that was strange was the map room. All of the maps have to be placed in the right orientation. You need to place them on a wall that will not require you to rotate them.
Achievements that DO NOT WORK:
The Beginning (kill the wither)
Super Fuel (power a furnace with lava)
The Beaconator (create and fully power a beacon)
The Beginning? (spawn the wither)
Overpowered (eat a notch apple)
Renewable Energy (smelt wood trunks using charcoal to make more charcoal)
