Any transparency at all is disabled on custom skins as of 1.2 betas, any pixel that is not opaque will render as black. (Not duplicating MCPE-8948) TL:DR Image "skin2" shouldn't be treated as image "skin1" - image "skin1" rendering as black is intended, image "skin2" isn't.

This is what's supposed to happen. Transparency is only allowed on the second skin layer, not on the first.

In Bedrock versions, around 60%-70% of the bottom layer could be transparent. And even minecraft staff said this was a feature.
