My villager got replaced...?

Hi. In my survival world, I finally found a villager that sold mending books. I then named him “I Sell Mending!” using a name tag. I made sure he was in a safe location - torches nearby, walled off from the outside, iron golems protecting it, etc. I had to leave the game for a bit, and I disconnected RIGHT in front of the villager. And yes, I made sure my world finished saving. So I went back on a couple hours later. The villager was still there, but the thing is, when I entered the trading menu, it no longer sold mending. Also, the name tag I had put on him before I disconnected was gone. All the trades were different, as if the villager had somehow been swapped with another one! Please tell me what in the world happened! For the record, there were no other villagers in the area, unless you include my villager farm a hundred blocks away.

This has not happened since, but I haven’t really tried it in the 5 months it took someone to respond to my post. Perhaps it was just a one-time glitch in the system that caused my villager to be replaced. If this does happen to other people, though, it’s a serious issue.

Apologies for the slow response, it's not something we've been able to reproduce. If it happens again, please add more details and maybe a copy of the world save.

this has happened twice within a week in my survival realm, i buy one mending book, he sleeps, he has riptide replacing mending
