While playing anytime I am near my village the game is very slow and almost unplayable. I have never had issues with lag before ever since the game updated two weeks ago the game has been very glitchy with lots of lag. I can't do anything around my village anymore and have even tried getting rid of all my farms. I don't have an red stone devices running anymore have to groups of animals or crops growing and still lots of lag.

I have the same problem playing on XBOX One. Whenever there ae several mobs nearby, whether monsters at night, near a village or even with half dozen or so farm animals nearby. Again, I had no issues with lag until the latest update.
