After most recent update I've found I can't mine blocks; I tap the block and the camera/character just moves. Due to this I also can't open or select objects with ease.
The small "X" in menu system also doesn't work and I have to use my phone's back button instead.

Already checked all that. No settings have changed. This issue has only started since the last update. It also means I can't attack spawns.
Would it be possible for you to upload a copy of the world? Also, do you have the same issue with other worlds?
It's a realm. We've been through all options including using a different android device. Still the same. I'm not the only one with this issue, other players in realm and on worlds, both mine and theirs, are having the same problem. It's intermittent and can suddenly start half way through a session. Particularly annoying when at night in middle of battle.
I have changed the title to reflect that this is an intermittent problem. That's an important difference that you only just mentioned. It's unlikely that changing any settings will help this kind of problem.
If you notice that this problem tends to happen right after you do something unusual, please let us know. That could be a crucial clue to helping the devs reproduce it. It's almost impossible for them to find a bug if it they can't make it happen in a test world.
It started happening about 14 hours after the last update. I had literally just logged in and got onto the realm then found I couldn't do anything.
When the problem occurs we've found we have to close, reboot the game once or twice and run around doing nothing for 5-10 minutes then after a day/night cycle and sleeping in a bed it sort of rights itself for a while.
Cleaning up old tickets: This ticket has not been updated recently (~1 year+) so is being closed as Cannot Reproduce. If you feel this is still a valid issue then please comment, or create a new ticket following the Issue Guidelines.

If you are playing your own world, check the game settings Trust Player Permissions. If it is set to Visitor, change it to Member or Operator. Next, load the world and open the pause menu. On the right you will see your gamertag and a permissions button. Tap the permissions button and change your permissions there as well.
If you are playing multiplayer on someone else's world, ask them to give you Member permissions.
