Player raises from crouch / sneak after entering into the menu

when entering into the item menu/pause while in crouch mode, the player raises slowly into standing... .can cause the player to fall off when crouch walking on the edge of blocks (example: i was making an iron farm above the ground, and ran out of blocks, had to put more blocks in my main, and when i did i fell off the edge

I’ve recreated this issue multiple times on the X-Box One in beta lan multiplayer mode. It’s killed me a few times and other family members as well. Crouching on a cliff or tree works initially but if you open your inventory to get a new pick you’re now standing. Makes it real easy to unintentionally walk off a high surface.

Affects iOS as well. Very annoying falling off a very high block just because you entered the inventory...

This is an intended feature.

We need option to toggle it if it is intended.  I feel like i wanted to crouch for a reason, and i should get to decide when I stop.  I've already died a couple of times only due to this mechanic, and it doesn't exactly feel intuitive.

It effects all the versions, even betas.

I don't have Minecraft on a phone, but when I plugged my controller in for Windows 10, I was able to remain sneaking after opening a menu. Since PC players don't have a problem with this issue, it doesn't affect them.

This issue now affects Windows 10 with Keyboard & Mouse as of 1.6.0 update. I first discovered this on InPvP and at first I thought it was a server issue until it happened in one of my local worlds. I have not seen this issue on older versions such as 1.5.3

I knew this issue always affected keyboard and mouse because I tested it back in 1.2. I figured this wasn't a bug because Java Minecraft has the same feature. I think it makes more sense to fix this issue for controller users and mobile devices specifically because they can't move as fast as keyboard and mouse users. However, I think this actually would be a cool feature to have (as I said in my comment on July 1st).

Fixed in 1.7.0.9 Beta - this behaviour is for touch and controller input only.

Why isn't this marked as resolved? Seems like no one is having this issue anymore...
