I wanted some coral to decorate the aquarium I built, and some coral fans to stick on the coral blocks I brought back. According to the wiki, coral can be mined with any tool and always drops itself. But every time I try to collect it, it just breaks no matter what I use and doesn't drop anything. The only pieces I've managed to get were from breaking the block under them and them detaching instead of vanishing. This is in survival, in my pure survival achievement world.

I tried using a silk touch pick. I tried shears, a regular pick, and my hand. Not talking about the coral blocks, but the coral plants and coral fans. And my aquarium is all source blocks.
Coral blocks, plants and fans should all be obtainable by using a silk touch pick, as shown here:

It's strange that you mentioned they drop of you break the block beneath. Can you check to see if you have the tile-drops option disabled somehow? (We'll test this out further and try and reproduce the problem)
As far as I know, it's on... Most other things seem to work fine. The coral just does not want to cooperate with me for some reason.
In Minecraft (Bedrock) currently, these need to be broken and collected using a silk touch pick, and can only be placed in water source blocks, not flowing water.
