World deletion after loss of power

Update on this issue by [~Mega_Spud]

12-Nov-18 - For those still having issues with their worlds not showing in the world list - In many cases the actual save data is still present on the device, so the advice from the developers in not to uninstall or delete the game data, as we are working on a fix that should enable the saves to be recognised and show in the list again correctly.

I was on my Xbox One Minecraft Bedrock Edition world when my power went out and when I logged back in the next day when my power returned my world was gone, deleted. This is on v1.5.0, and a survival multiplayer world

Affects 1.5.3 according to MCPE-36682.

This just happened to my world as well...anyway to get it back on an x-box 1?

The fix for V1.6.1 windows 10

make a new world with the same name and same settings (this is important)  as the world you want to recover

save and close that world

goto %appdata%Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\
you will want to go tominecraft worlds the folders in here are named with gibberish but if you remember the picture for the worlds (the newly created one and the old one) the .jpeg file will be in those folders. Use these to find the proper worlds
You will want to move these files from the new world into the old world (make a copy of the old world onto your desktop just in case)
level.dat
level.dat_mcr   (this file may or may not be present if it is not there ignore this file)
level.dat_old
open the db folder in each world and copy this file
session.lock or LOCK  (it will be named one of the 2)
if minecraft is open close it and reopen it and the world should be restored if all the steps where followed correctly

This could be done in code in the game which would involve making a backup copy of the files mentioned so if the corruption occurs then it can load from the backup files.

Andrew Reid thanks for the info but unfortunately we are not able to copy files the same way on xbox though I wish we could. Thanks though

This issue should be resolved in 1.8 (currently in beta).

One of my friends confirmed that this issue is fixed in 1.8.0.14. The world is reverted back, but it does not disappear from the world selection list.

What I would recommend doing is backing up your game before installing 1.8, because it is possible that existing worlds may not reappear, however since my friend is the one in the beta and not me, I cannot confirm that it is going to happen
