Affected versions:
1.5.0, 1.5.1, 1.5.2, 1.5.3

Summary: When planting crops in a straight line - left/right or forward/backward - every 3rd, 4th, or 5th planting will be skipped.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Create a line of tilled farmland at least 20 blocks long
2) Put wheat, carrots, potatoes, etc. in hand
3) Walk down the line (either moving sideways or walking backward) and hold the left trigger

Observed Results: Every 3rd, 4th, or 5th planting will be skipped; planting will continue after each skipped block

Expected Results: Every block is planted

Screenshots/Videos Attached: Yes

Notes: Also affects placing of fences (or at least cobblestone fences; I did not test every variety). It seems like this is almost certainly caused by the planting animation taking longer than it takes Steve to walk across a block. Steve walks across 4 blocks in the time it takes the planting animation to plant 3 blocks (or thereabouts), so 1 block is skipped.

Also affected:
-hoeing
-redstone
-rails

I've been experiencing this as well. This also happens when harvesting crops.

Steven

I wasn't able to reproduce your description of harvesting.  I have been using water bucket to break crop instead of by hand.  I went into my world and do harvest by hand in single/splitscreen.  There was no sign of skipping while harvesting.  Could you explain more?  Did it happened in multiplayer?  What device did you play on?

With the horrible lag we've been experiencing in my Bedrock  realm since the first Aquatic Update (which got worse with the second), we aren't able to walk and place or plant. Every other block gets skipped. I don't have a problem with harvesting, but plants sometimes have to be placed twice because they will disappear after planting and end up back in my inventory.

And placing blocks for a large castle build recently required me to place them one at a time slowly, because walking back and placing is no longer possible without every other block disappearing and ending up back in my inventory.

I think the lag-induced block skip is a different (more frustrating, because it affects many/all blocks) issue from the planting issue reported here. I play on a local world, solo, on an Xbox One X. Lag is not an issue, but planting still skips. So do fenceposts. Regular blocks (cobble, wood, etc.) do not ever skip.

Planting, fencposting (TM, All Rights Reserved), and likely a few other actions have slower-than-usual animations, it seems. Even on a lag-free system they will skip when moving at walking speed, because the animation does not complete in time for the next block.

Make sure you add your vote to one of the bug reports for Realm laggyness.

@Jeffrey, what kind of blocks were affected? I've seen it with fenceposts, but never with a full building block like dirt or cobble.

Not with 'all' blocks. But a lot of times it would skip some full blocks like stone. (For me,that is)

Confirmed.

The issue gets compounded on keyboard where there is no analog input to make the player walk slower. So the walk button needs to be tapped /released to not go faster than the placement speed.

It also affects carpet.

Confirmed for Windows 10 when using a shovel to make grass paths, tested using Mouse and Keyboard
