opened end dragon was there. while destroying dragon life giving rays the dragon spontaneously disappeared and now there is no portals to take us onward to be found.

The end city portals and exit portals only spawn when you kill the dragon, so the only bug I see here is that the dragon disappeared. It's been established that this can happen if the dragon flies too far away, so I assume that's what happened in this case.
