Villager farming and breeding

This is a bug pertaining to villager breeding and farming. When a villager is given food (ex, potato, carrot, etc), he is unable to pick up the food despite spawning a new villager with a free inventory. Due to this, villagers are unable to breed. This affects many farms that require villagers.

Is the 'mob griefing' toggle on? Switching that option off will prevent villagers from picking up or harvesting crops.

Mob griefing was off so that was the reason. That fixed the problem. Thanks a lot for letting me know that.

Thank you for explaining this Jeffrey!  I was testing villager farm designs and was wondering why they weren't working.  Dolt!
